Welcome to Dike Newell Elementary School! 

 

We are a Pre-Kindergarten through Second Grade school serving approximately 200 students in the heart of the City of Bath. Our central location allows us to take full advantage of the wonderful community around us. Whether we're exploring our neighborhood on walking field trips, welcoming local experts into our classrooms, or partnering with community organizations, our students learn that education extends far beyond the walls of our school.

 At Dike Newell School, we are committed to creating a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment where every child feels valued and supported. Guided by our school expectations to: Be Kind, Be Safe, and Be Responsible, we work together each day to build a positive school culture rooted in respect, responsibility, and gratitude. 

Throughout the year, students participate in school-wide activities and community meetings that recognize achievements, celebrate kindness, and encourage us to appreciate one another and the world around us.These shared experiences help build a positive learning environment where students feel confident, connected, and ready to learn. 

We believe some of the most meaningful learning happens through exploration, creativity, collaboration, and real-world experiences. Our classrooms are filled with rich literacy experiences, hands-on math investigations, collaborative problem-solving, and opportunities for students to think critically and creatively every day. Whether students are developing early literacy skills, strengthening their mathematical thinking, or discovering the world through science, art, and play, we strive to create engaging learning experiences that build both strong academic foundations and a lifelong love of learning.

 Student wellness is an important part of each school day. Whenever weather permits, students enjoy multiple outdoor recesses where they can climb, swing, slide, play games, create with sidewalk chalk, and simply enjoy being active with their classmates. We encourage families to dress children for the weather, as we enjoy spending time outdoors throughout the school year. 

We are so proud of the strong partnerships we share with our families and the greater Bath community. Our active Parent Teacher Association (PTA) plays an important role in supporting our students, staff, and school events throughout the year. We encourage all families to become involved, whether by attending events, volunteering, or joining the PTA. Together, we create a school community where everyone feels heard, connected and invested in student success!

Dike Newell School is a place where students are challenged to grow academically while also developing confidence, curiosity, kindness, and independence. We believe that these early elementary years lay the foundation for a lifetime of learning, and we are honored to be part of that journey.
