Today author and illustrator, Hazel Mitchell, visited our school. She shared her work with students and talked with them about how she develops her story ideas. She has written various books, including Toby and illustrated Borrowing Bunnies - both of which each of our classrooms have read and enjoyed. Students enjoyed seeing her dog, Toby, in a video presentation, and her stories about the fostered bunnies that were the inspiration for Cynthia Lord's story Borrowing Bunnies that Hazel illustrated.
Each year Dike-Newell brings an author to talk with students about their work. Today's visit with Hazel was an excellent celebration of reading and writing - thank you Hazel for visiting our school!
